# TMI Intention TMI Intention is the repeated conscious aiming that trains meditation habits without trying to force the mind by willpower. ## Meaning In TMI, intention is the practical root of training. The meditator does not directly command the whole mind. The meditator repeatedly forms and sustains specific intentions: sit, return, notice, brighten, relax, appreciate, or keep practicing. Over time, repeated intentions create repeated mental actions, and repeated mental actions become habits. This makes intention different from pressure. Intention aims the system; pressure tries to dominate it. ## Source Of Meaning This note is grounded in The Mind Illuminated overview and intention recap, especially PDF pp. 49-51. ## Relationship Over Time This meaning should be tested through one small practice intention before adding more theory. ## Links - [[The Mind Illuminated Meaning Guide]] - [[The Mind Illuminated Meaning Map]] - [[TMI Stable Attention]] - [[TMI Introspective Awareness]] - [[TMI Unification Of Mind]] - [[Aligned Action]] - [[Lived Test]] - [[Meaning]] - [[Action]] - [[Joe]] ## Tensions Intention can become pressure when Joe identifies with producing a result. In TMI, intention should be firm enough to guide practice and gentle enough to let the mind learn. ## Question What is the smallest intention that would make the next sit clearer?
