# Nasal Breathing Practice
Nasal Breathing Practice is the practice of gently supporting breathing through the nose when safe and appropriate.
## Meaning
This practice starts while awake.
Try this:
1. Notice whether your nose feels clear enough to breathe comfortably.
2. Sit, stand, or lie down in a normal position.
3. Close your mouth gently.
4. Breathe through your nose for two minutes.
5. Keep the breath easy.
6. Stop if you feel distress, dizziness, panic, or air hunger.
7. Notice whether your body feels more settled, less settled, or unchanged.
This practice may support [[Physical Well-being]], [[Emotional Well-being]], or [[Mental Well-being]] by making [[Breath|breath]] easier to notice and regulate.
It connects to the [[Breathing System]], [[Oxygen System]], and [[Nervous System]].
It can also connect to [[Sleep]], but sleep breathing deserves caution.
If nasal breathing feels blocked, forced, or unsafe, do not force it.
If sleep breathing involves loud snoring, choking, gasping, pauses in breathing, major fatigue, or possible sleep apnea, the better next action is qualified care.
[[Mouth Taping]] is not the starting practice. Start with awake nasal breathing first.

## Relationship Over Time
This note should improve through lived reports and better source review. If people jump too quickly to sleep taping, this page should become clearer and safer.

## Tensions
Nasal breathing can be a simple practice, but forcing nasal breathing can be the wrong move when breathing is obstructed or sleep-disordered.
## Question
Does gentle nasal breathing make the body more able to function, recover, or grow?
